Janey Godley Review PDF Print E-mail

The self-proclaimed ‘over-friendly cleaner’ provides a warm welcome, greeting every member of the audience and immediately putting a smile on the crowd's face. This excitable Glaswegian comic is honest and kind-hearted but at the same time takes no nonsense (you get the distinct impression she's the kind of person you would like to have on your side in a fight). She is a brilliant storyteller who engages the audience with her poignant tales, all of which have have a sharply humorous edge. During the show, Godely talks a lot about her desire for approval and how, since childhood, she's been fixated with getting people to like her - by the end of this satisfying, endearing performance, I think few audience members could claim they weren't won over.
