Little Red Review PDF Print E-mail
Written by Freya Slipper
This imaginative piece of writing weaves its tale of the devastating effect of dementia in amongst the childhood fairytales using a traditional cottage setting, aided by the damp, musty air of the Baby Belly space. At first I was unsure whether the young actors playing the aged Reenie and Bill would pull off their infirm characters but both were impressive. Particularly enjoyable were the poignant moments between them, as she talked fondly of him to a man who, in her haze, was a stranger but in fact was Bill himself. At times too much time was spent talking of the telling of stories and not enough developing the main tale itself but despite this, it was a well put together piece by a young but competent cast.
