altMorgan’s debut show is all about his love of musicals and his absolute need for the final bow.  Able to sing, dance and act, he also sees himself as a triple threat because he is bespectacled, dyslexic and gay. Already one can see an all-too-recognizable, Alan-Carr-esque formula forming, and rather predictably it doesn’t break out of this typecast until the very last minute, by which point the show is practically over.

Unless you are a musicals enthusiast many of the asides will be lost on you. Equally, if you are not a Steps fan many of the dance moves will be lost on you, too. This somewhat limits Morgan’s niche, but for those with who know the difference between their Marias, as well as their box step from their step-ball-change, this show may prove entertaining yet. After all, this was the man who stayed on an extortionate contract just so his mobile number would finish with 24601, and who firmly believes the only death worth having is that by the hands of Bill Sikes.

While affable and fun, Morgan seems to play it safe recounting jokes he thinks we want to hear, or I should say, expect to hear. Cue the story of his ill-fated stint at a football camp and the mandatory flirting with the men in the front row (I should also mention here that if you happen to be a particularly attractive gentleman audience member you may also be photographed and pinned on his ‘Clive Wall’ as a cute memento).  His delivery is rushed and this spoils his better material, which is worth savouring. He needs to relax and revise his material for this show to improve.
