altKerry, despite complaints about being exhausted, bounced around the stage like a relentless ball of energy, talking a mile a minute on topics that vary from her favourite parts of Wonder Woman’s outfit to the trials of family life.

She’s genuinely funny and really engaging, but I felt that the pace of her speech could have been slowed as I think I lost a punchline or two; I was genuinely worried that she was not breathing enough! This was reflected in the fact that her performance came in at forty-five minutes when she is on for an hour – I think she rushed through her material.

She also assumes that her audience are going to have a fairly good knowledge of shows from the 70’s. I was one of the oldest in the room at this performance  and I’m an 80’s child so I did not catch every reference – I think her ideal target market might be 30+ if you are considering seeing her.

What I liked most about Kerry is the fact that she felt like a mate. The Hut is a small venue and this allowed her to make eye contact with the audience – we could have been in the pub. More than once I forgot myself and nearly interrupted her to join in with the banter. This is a hard relationship for a comedian to create and I was impressed.

All in all, Kerry was a little unpolished, but this was a rather endearing quality – the show was frantically energetic and her material was fresh and original. I’m always delighted to see a genuinely funny female comedian and I would recommend Kerry for some light entertianment.
