Pleasance Courtyard, 5-31 August (ex. 17, 24) 12.30
“I guess you think you know this story.
You don't. The real one's much more gory.”
In true Roald Dahl fashion, Clewis Productions – two delumptious gentlemen from the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre – will have you and your children gripped from the offset; bringing to life the much loved characters of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts books.
This show is not for recluses or the lack luster; in the intimate setting of the Pleasance Courtyard (which proves ideal for this open storytelling) audience interaction and pleasure is key. Indeed budding young thespians from the audience delighted in the chance to play their favorite little pig, or the grandma guzzling the big bad wolf to rapturous applause. Alternatively, for the less intrepid, the vital sound effects for a swishing wand or a snorting grumbling grunting tummy monster can be made from the comfort of your and their seats.
Clewis Productions promise an hour of “gloriumptious giggles” and the energy and imaginative interpretations that Clem and Lewis exude do the job. They can flick from a puppy eyed, half dead, food deprived Anteater to a pistol whipping from her knickers Little Red Riding hood with great vim and vigor. It is a truly entertaining way to spend an hour for Roald Dahl fanatics of any age.
