Vive Le Cabaret offers a mixture of burlesque, boylesque, circus performances, magic tricks, and music, combined with some filthy jokes, to guarantee a sexy night out. While the show offers a different collection of acts each day (that can be seen in their own festival shows if they impress), there are a number of regulars, as well as the glitteringly camp compère Desmond O’Connor, who treats the audience to songs on his ukulele that never stray from the distasteful.

Kiki Kaboom’s striptease is a regular feature, and a funny combination of sexy dancing with pissed-off chav looking for trouble. Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer is another highlight of the evening, and features his ukulele-banjo covers of early 90’s House music, complete with backing track of thumping bass and unstoppable audience participation. His attempts to merge hip-hop music with the Queen’s English are hilarious.

Other acts that appeared when I went included displays of contortion, hula hooping (with the inclusion of an audience member that would justify the 18+ rating on its own), and an impressive magic display that risked drawing blood, but did not go down brilliantly with the audience, perhaps because the crowd quite quickly get a taste for raunchy material and never want a break from it.

Expect sparkle-coated nipples and Velcro-removable trousers.
